Chemical and toxicological characterization of particulate emissions from diesel vehicles

چکیده
This paper presents a detailed chemical and toxicological characterization of the diesel particulate matter (PM) emitted from vehicles running on chassis dynamometer under different driving conditions. Chemical analyses were performed to characterize contents organic carbon (OC), elemental (EC), 31 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in collected PM samples. The OC–EC analysis results revealed that emissions this study dominated by OC emission equipped with filters had high OC/EC ratios. PAH 4- 5-ring PAHs dominant fraction Particle toxicity was evaluated through three markers human A549 cells, namely (1) acellular 2,7-dichlorofluorescein (DCFH) for oxidative potential, (2) interleukin-6 (IL-6) inflammation, (3) glutathione (GSH) antioxidation after exposure. Statistical vehicle sizes have statistically significant effects concentrations markers. Correlation between correlations existed specific compounds Our can be used as reference policy makers formulate control strategies dataset other modeling studies.

Characterization of particulate matter emissions from on-road gasoline and diesel vehicles using a soot particle aerosol mass spectrometer
Particulate matter (PM) emissions were measured in July 2010 from on-road motor vehicles driving through a highway tunnel in the San Francisco Bay area. A soot particle aerosol mass spectrometer (SP-AMS) was used to measure the chemical composition of PM emitted by gasoline and diesel vehicles at high time resolution. Organic aerosol (OA) and black carbon (BC) concentrations were measured durin...

A primary means to reduce environmental levels of diesel particulate matter (DPM) exposure to miners is to reduce the amount of DPM emission from the engine. A quick and economic method to estimate engine particulate emission levels has been developed. The method relies on the measurement of pressure increase across a filter element that is briefly used to collect a DPM sample directly from the...

Carbonyls from gasoline-powered light-duty vehicles (LDVs) and heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles (HDDVs) operated on chassis dynamometers were measured by use of an annular denuder-quartz filter-polyurethane foam sampler with O-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzyl)hydroxylamine derivatization and chromatography-mass spectrometry analyses. Two internal standards were utilized based on carbonyl recovery...
متن کاملElucidating secondary organic aerosol from diesel and gasoline vehicles through detailed characterization of organic carbon emissions.
Emissions from gasoline and diesel vehicles are predominant anthropogenic sources of reactive gas-phase organic carbon and key precursors to secondary organic aerosol (SOA) in urban areas. Their relative importance for aerosol formation is a controversial issue with implications for air quality control policy and public health. We characterize the chemical composition, mass distribution, and or...
متن کاملEmissions of Nitrogen Dioxide from Modern Diesel Vehicles
The traditional on-road emissions remote sensing technique has been enhanced with the ability to monitor not only CO, CO2, HC and NO, but also SO2, NH3 and NO2. Modern diesel powered vehicles, particularly in Japan and Europe are equipped with diesel particle filters (DPFs). These traps are frequently designed to be self regenerating by means of a prior catalytic oxidation of the exhaust NO to ...
